Job Overview

Reporting to the Portfolio Director, working on Broadband and Optical, the role involves the project management and production of events within one of Informa’s key verticals. Currently, TMT has the highest revenue of all K&N portfolios and houses 5 of the division’s top 25 events. You are responsible for creating exceptional products and world class events that are at the heart of their industry, as well as the delivery of an exceptional audience both onsite at the events and subscribed to our digital platforms.

The Broadband and Optical Portfolio is one of the biggest on the TMT floor by revenue, in Knect365’s largest and most exciting vertical. It features market leading events such as the multi-million-pound Broadband World Forum, supplemented with regional and topical events held in Europe and Asia.

The portfolio is looking for a Senior Producer to lead our headline optical event (worth more than 500k), the regional Asia event, as well as a significant member of the team developing the Portfolio’s flagship event. It’s a fantastic opportunity to show leadership on events of different scales across international markets. The portfolio’s Telco core is augmented by dives into exciting emerging technologies like AI, IoT, Smart Cities and Blockchain, making an interest in tech an advantage.

Role Details

The Senior Conference Producer is responsible for the following areas within their portfolio:

  1. Strategic planning
  2. Event creation
  3. Programme production
  4. Audience delivery
  5. Attendee experience
  6. Product development and evolution

This means that they are expected to deliver revenue growth through:

  • The development of high quality, content rich events
  • Strategic planning at event level
  • Putting the customer at the front of all event and product decisions
  • Actively contributing to the delegate and audience acquisition process to ensure maximum attendance of high quality, relevant attendees to all events
  • The development of online / digital events that support the need for fast route to market delivery

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have success at a product management level within the commercial conference world, with in-depth knowledge and experience of the business. Ideally they will have:

  • Experience of successfully producing large scale events and marketing collaboration within a fast paced commercial conference company
  • Be a ‘product first’ person who understands what it takes to make exceptional events happen
  • A good level of comfort with the digital world, from community and content marketing through to ‘digital first’ events, and hungry to build this into their event offerings

Key Deliverables for Senior Conference Producer

  1. Production
  • Draft the production schedule and manage the portfolio production team
  • Manage freelance production and additional resource for delivery of all programmes
  • Extensive research into the market to fully understand the ecosystem
  • Deliver best in breed content and speakers across physical and digital event platforms
  • Produce high quality programmes, driving new and exciting content as well as key themes/trends in the industry
  • Develop new event formats and maintain quality control over all content output from the team
  • Focus on delivering a quality experience for all attendees at our events
  • Ensure on-time delivery of relevant event content and product information for key marketing milestones and associated digital, physical and telesales marketing campaigns
  • Identify and develop new events and topics for the portfolio
  • Create new, interactive features and formats that add considerable value to the conferences and exhibition show-floor activities
  1. Business Development. Develops new and existing business
  • Deliver new products within own Portfolio sector
  • Provide creative input & tactical support in the delivery of new products
  • Take responsibility for key account management with Head of Sales
  • Build the commercial ecosystem with the commercial team for each event
  • Work closely with the telesales team to drive delegate revenue growth
  1. Oversees event management for portfolio
  • Ensure delivery of tactical plan for each event in portfolio
  • Review tactical plan and communicate across all functions within the team
  • Be familiar with all portfolio financial targets and responsible for delegate revenue growth and overall audience growth across platforms
  • Set, monitor and ensure events deliver, target standards of quality and customer service

  • Create Training & Development sessions to help nurture talent
  • Monitor action plans to help team achieve targets
